    WILD: A Safari Experience at Illuminarium Atlanta

    Event Dates: now through October 17, 2021

    WILD: A Safari Experience at Illuminarium Atlanta allows guests to feel as if they have been transported to Africa. Through unique immersive technology, guests will be surrounded by the natural habitat of wild animals in Africa. Animal lovers can wander the sweeping plains, admire the spectacular landscapes, and encounter lions, zebras, and elephants.

    “Turtle Odyssey” at Fernbank Museum

    “Turtle Odyssey” is the newest giant screen film playing at the Fernbank Museum of Natural History. The story follows Bunji, an Australian green sea turtle, across the open ocean. You will experience the ocean through the eyes of a turtle as you follow the life cycle of a green sea turtle from birth to laying eggs of her own.

    Outdoor Special Exhibition “Habitat” at Fernbank Museum

    Event Dates: now through August 29, 2021

    In the outdoor special exhibition “Habitat” at the Fernbank Museum of Natural History, you are able to explore the stories and science of habitats and the plants, animals, and humans that call them home. Walk through the Wild Woods to tour the natural world of habitats and biomes found around the globe. You will learn the importance of preserving these natural communities through sculptures of animals, nests, flowers, and more, created in partnership with local artists.

    Atlanta Dogwood Festival

    Event Dates: August 6, 2021 through August 8, 2021

    The iconic Atlanta Dogwood Festival is finally back and in-person! The city’s longest-running festival and the third-oldest fine arts festival in the country, the Atlanta Dogwood Festival represents nearly every kind of art imaginable. Browse the renowned Fine Artist Market that includes sculpture, paintings, pottery, jewelry, photography, and more. The event also features live music, international performances, disc dogs, food trucks, and the Mimosa 5K run.

    Dino Stroll

    Event Dates: August 7, 2021 through August 8, 2021

    Walk through a dinosaur adventure and get up close and personal with 75 life-like creatures, reptiles, and dinosaurs. Most of the displays stand over 25-feet tall and span over 60-feet long. This realistic tour back in time will take place at Cobb Galleria Centre.

    Family Zoo Yoga at Zoo Atlanta

    Event Date: August 14, 2021

    Connect with animals in a whole new way through Zoo Atlanta’s Family Zoo Yoga program. This fun, interactive program for families with children ages 4 and up includes 30-40 minutes of animal-inspired yoga poses. Each month features a new animal and new poses. This month’s animal poses are inspired by Sun Bears and Tigers.

    Creekwater Alpaca Barn Tours

    Event Dates: Saturdays and Sundays now through December 25, 2021

    Head out to Snellville to visit Creekwater Alpacas, home of over 50 alpacas since 1993. You can pet the alpacas in a safe, close-up, hands-on experience. There are also bunnies, goats, sheep, pigs, guinea fowl, and Toulouse geese at the farm. The farm offers public, private, and virtual tours as well as guided alpaca walks.

    Screen on the Green at Atlantic Station

    Event Dates: August 12, 2021 and August 26, 2021

    Enjoy a family-friendly film under the stars at Atlantic Station’s Screen on the Green series. Twice a month in the summer, Atlantic Station is showing different movies on the large outdoor screen with movie trivia starting at 6:30 p.m. and the film beginning at 7 p.m. This month features Spider Man: Into the Spider-Verse on August 12 and Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl on August 26.
