Experience the Best of Japan at JapanFest Atlanta 2024!

Get ready for a weekend filled with vibrant culture, delicious food, and unforgettable performances at JapanFest Atlanta, coming to the Gas South Convention Center in Duluth on September 21-22!

Whether you're a longtime fan of Japanese traditions or looking to discover something new, this family-friendly event has something for everyone.

    Kabuki Theatre Returns to Atlanta!

This year’s JapanFest brings the dramatic flair of Kabuki back to Atlanta for the first time in seven years.

Miyabiya, an acclaimed Kabuki troupe, will present their unique blend of traditional and modernized performances, giving audiences a rare opportunity to experience this UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage right here in Georgia.

Laugh Out Loud with Katsura Sunshine!

Joining the lineup is the world-renowned Rakugo artist, Katsura Sunshine, known as the "King of Kimono Comedy."

His one-man show, a humorous take on classic Japanese storytelling, will have you in stitches. Whether he’s delivering witty originals or time-honored tales, Sunshine’s performance is not to be missed—and he’ll even be offering special shows with hand signals for the hearing impaired.

    Non-Stop Entertainment and Cultural Experiences

JapanFest Atlanta 2024 is more than just a show—it’s a full day of immersive experiences.

From the thunderous beats of the Matsuriza Taiko Drum Troupe to the electrifying swordplay of Samurai Sword Soul, there’s never a dull moment. You can catch martial arts demonstrations like sumo wrestling, karate, kendo, and kyudo, or try your hand at traditional Japanese crafts and games in the festival’s interactive children’s area.

Kids can get their faces painted in Kabuki style, make their own toys, and even help carry a traditional Japanese portable shrine during the lively o-mikoshi parade. Head over to Ginza Dori, a street modeled after Tokyo’s famous shopping district, where you can enjoy festival games, snacks, and browse unique Japanese accessories and toys.

    Savor the Flavors of Japan

Bring your appetite, because JapanFest features some of Atlanta’s best Japanese cuisine!

Enjoy a tantalizing array of food at the Japanese Food Court and Beer Garden, including sushi, ramen, bento boxes, yakisoba, and much more. Cool down with some refreshing shaved ice or sip on Japanese beer as you take in the lively atmosphere.

    Workshops, Exhibits, and More!

JapanFest isn’t just about entertainment—there are plenty of opportunities to learn about Japan’s rich culture.

Take part in workshops on calligraphy, origami, and Ikebana flower arranging, or watch live demonstrations by master artisans in kumihimo braiding, stonemasonry, and tatami mat making. You can even try on a kimono or participate in a traditional tea ceremony.

With over 100 vendors, the JapanFest marketplace is the perfect place to find unique gifts and souvenirs. Shop for kimonos, handmade crafts, anime and manga merchandise, and authentic Japanese teas and snacks.

Don’t miss the Japanese Businesses in Georgia (JBiG) exhibition, where you can see the latest innovations in technology, automobiles, electronics, and more from the over 600 Japanese-affiliated companies based in the state.
