The collision occurred on the northbound I-215 just before the University Parkway exit at around 11:26pm September 14, 2024, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Multiple vehicles including a Toyota Corolla sedan with damaged beyond recognition with a semi tractor trailer. The other vehicles involved in the collision were a burgundy-colored Acura MDX SUV, and a black Dodge Ram Dully pickup truck, thats the vehicles recovered at the accident scene.

CHP said, a semi tractor-trailer was on the right shoulder of north I-215 when the driver of the Corolla veered into the back of the semi. This cause the Corolla to lose control and go back into the traffic lanes then was hit again by a passing Dodge Ram pickup truck. The contact cause two people to become ejected from the Corolla.

Responding officers found two bodies in the roadway – one in the right lane and one in the middle lane – and a third individual was found inside the Corolla that rear-ended in the back of a semi tractor-trailer at high speeds, a spokesperson stated.

All three were pronounced deceased at the scene. Two other victims were transported to a nearby hospital with unknown injuries.

CHP officials could not confirm if speed or impairment were factors in the collision.

We will update this story with more information when the CHP’s preliminary accident report is available. Additional details were limited at this time. This incident will be under investigation by the California Highway Patrol, Inland Office.

so the article says the corolla crashed into the semi at a high speed... but CHP said they're not sure if it was speed or impairment? sorry for the families loss... but you're usually not ejected from a vehicle if you're wearing a seat belt.
