BSCTC approved to offer paramedic training program
Big Sandy Community and Technical College announced in a statement March 14 that it has been approved to offer a paramedic training program beginning in August. Building upon its existing emergency medical services curriculum, BSCTC will now provide hybrid paramedic classes, with sessions conducted one day a week, the statement said.
BSCTC announces essay contest in honor of Professor John P. Carroll
The first-ever John P. Carroll Essay Contest has been announced by Big Sandy Community and Technical College. Open to high school and college students in Eastern Kentucky, the contest has been created in honor of the late Professor John Carroll, who taught at the college for 20 years and served as the program coordinator of BSCTC’s Education Program, according to a statement from the college.

Board moves forward on PHS gym project
After putting new turf on its football field last year, the Paintsville Independent Board of Education is now tackling a major renovation project in its high school gym.
