President says second Christmas for Kids saw significant growth this year
Christmas for Kids of Kentucky President Brandon May called the organization’s second event a massive success. May said he estimated a roughly 40 percent increase in the number of children served at 550 this year, with meals provided to approximately 750 people. One metric saw massive growth, May said.

A Johnson County woman was arrested on charges including trafficking in fentanyl after Paintsville Police responded to a shoplifting call. Paintsville City Council opts to wait for new greens mower
After some discussion during a special called meeting on Nov. 17, the Paintsville City Council decided to reject a bid for a greens mower for the Paintsville Golf Course. McKenzie’s 22 points leads Johnson Central to season opening win over Jenkins
Behind the 22 points of senior Taylor McKenzie, Johnson Central kicked off the new season in dominating fashion, picking up an 82-21 win over Jenkins. McKenzie was impressive in her senior season debut, going four of four from the field and four of seven from the three-point line. She was also two of five from the free-throw line. She brought down three rebounds in the victory as well. She finished with a game-high 22 points.
Kentuckians advised to avoid visiting county clerk offices for motor vehicle services in early January
A major step forward in modernizing the state’s vehicle information database is approaching as transportation officials migrate to a new, customer-centric system. All county clerk offices, according to a statement from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, will temporarily pause in-person and online motor and vessel-related services in early January to accommodate the transition. The suspension of services starts Jan. 1, is expected to last between four to 10 business days and may cause longer wait times when services resume in January.
