I'm sure for students, today is a great morning as many across the county are waking up to the first day of summer! I see that nearly all Wayne County schools had their last days yesterday, while today is the last day for Seton Catholic students.
Remember to stay safe this summer and good luck to all graduating seniors in your next step in life!

Shawn Wright grew up with a military family, and although he's never served himself, the American flag holds a very special meaning to him.
His father used a flag as a tourniquet in Afghanistan to save a fellow soldier's life, and both his sons have served in the U.S. Army as well.
So, when he drives around and sees homes in Richmond and Centerville with torn and tattered flags, he feels the least he can do is provide them with a brand new one that they can proudly fly.

🍅 Farmer's market grant cancelled: In Bloomington, the state cancelled an $800,000 grant to an anti-racist farmer's market after it discovered financial improprieties.

- 🏊♂️ School's out for the summer and you know what that means -- opening day at the Cordell Municipal Pool (9 SW 13th St., Richmond) is this Saturday! If you haven't been there before or would like a refresher on what the pool has to offer, the city's website has an information page that includes prices.
- 🤼♂️ Attention all wrestling fans! The Rose City Wrestling Alliance returns to the National Guard Armory this Saturday! On the card, "The New Nightmare" Matt Vengeance will face off against "The American Icon" Eric Adonis to crown the first-ever RCWA Heavyweight Champion, and Kaidyn Kross will battle Sledge in a No Holds Barred match. More information on the event's Facebook page.
- 🎮 Not big into swimming or wrestling? How about video games? From 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Retro Rush Arcade (100 N 9th St.) will be hosting Summer Slam, it's Super Smash Bros Ultimate Tournament. Trophies will go the top three and there will be door prizes for spectators. More information on its Facebook page.
