Richmond man sentenced to 4 years for stabbing

Taking a plea deal that reduced an attempted murder charge to aggravated battery, 30-year-old Julian Nicholas McCord was sentenced to four years in prison last week for stabbing a Hagerstown man.

The attack on the man occurred last year when McCord and the victim were discussing dealings with a mutual acquaintance, when all of a sudden McCord stabbed him.

At the time, McCord was accused of trying to run down a pedestrian with a car, though the charges in that case were dropped upon his plea agreement.

Had the attempted murder case gone to trial, McCord could have faced 20 to 40 years behind bars.

While I'm too young to remember Gene Keady's historic accolades as Purdue's men's basketball coach, I can understand just how successful he was.

Why? Because he just claimed another accolade: his own beer.

Sun King Brewing is still in the early stages of developing the beer, but it will be produced in honor of the hall of famer as Keady had expressed interest in his own brew.
