RICHMOND, Ind. — A Richmond man whose home was raided by the Wayne County Drug Task Force has been charged with five drug-dealing counts.

According to an affidavit, when officers entered a home in the 2000 block of South 15th Street about 6 a.m. on Aug. 8, they found 28.57 grams of heroin, 20.66 grams of fentanyl, 5.31 grams of cocaine, six suboxone tablets and 207 grams of Kratom, a synthetic drug that has "the same effects on the human body as an opiate."

Several loaded handguns, along with ammunition and drug paraphernalia, including a set of digital scales and a large number of plastic bags, were also recovered.

Police say they also found Buddie Joe Davis, 45, in the house's crawl space.

Davis — also listed in court documents at an address in New Paris, Ohio — reportedly acknowledged ownership of most of the controlled substances, but he maintained they were all for his personal use.

He was charged Aug. 16 in Wayne Superior Court 1 with dealing in meth, two counts each of dealing in a narcotic drug and dealing in a controlled substance, and counterfeiting.

Police said they found two counterfeit $1 bills and two counterfeit $2 bills in the house.

All five dealing charges are Level 2 felonies carrying 30-year maximum sentences. Davis is being held without bond in the Wayne County Jail.

Davis was already set to stand trial Dec. 10, also in Superior Court 1, on five charges filed against him in January 2023 — dealing in meth, dealing in cocaine, dealing in a narcotic drug, dealing in a controlled substance and unlawful carrying of a handgun.

According to court records, he has been convicted of crimes including fraud, intimidation, residential entry, resisting law enforcement, theft and theft of a firearm.
