    🚫 TBK America shutting down in November; 79 workers to be laid off

    The Indiana Department of Workforce Development recently received a notification from TBK America that it would be laying off 79 of its workers over the next three months, ultimately resulting in the plant's closure.

    TBK America, headquartered in Richmond, is the lone facility owned by Japanese company TBK Group outside of Asia.

    The plant, which specializes in brakes and water and oil pumps for vehicles such as trucks and buses, will lay off 70 workers on Sept. 30, with an additional nine on Nov. 30. In total, 86 workers will be affected.

    🎆 The Centerville Annual Archway Days are this weekend starting Friday at 3 p.m. There's a full schedule of events going on throughout the town, including a car show, musical performances, entertainment for kids and more. There will also be vendors and food trucks, and even some educational events like a mock accident performed by Centerville Fire and Rescue.

    💃 An annual fundraising event for Birth-to-Five's Parents As Teachers and Healthy Families programs, Dancing with the Stars of Wayne County will be Saturday at Forest Hill Country Club in Richmond from 6 to 10 p.m. For the price of a $75 ticket, you will get dinner, dessert and the show itself. A cash bar will also be available, and there will be a silent auction. More information here.

    🐶 Who let the dogs out? You did, that is if you attend Dogs Night Out in the Depot District in Richmond on Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m. Free to community members and their furry friends, there will be dog watering stations throughout the neighborhood thanks to Paint the Towne, and a costume parade and contest will begin at 6 p.m.
