    Palacios house fire occupants safe thanks to police officer

    House fire in Palacios, Texas

    PALACIOS, Texas - Early Monday morning, a house fire erupted at 808 Rorem Ave in Palacios, Texas.

    The fire started in a shed behind the house and spread to the main house on the property. The first police officer to arrive was Officer Heath Barnett. Officer Barnett forced entry into the front of the house, waking the three adult occupants. The three occupants did not sustain any injuries and were not transported to the hospital but were assessed by EMS.

    Fire damages house in Palacios, Texas

    The fire lasted three and a half hours before firefighters were able to put it out completely. The estimated total loss was about $60,000 in damages. The fire marshal performed a preliminary investigation but has not determined the cause of the fire. The fire is still under investigation, and the fire marshal asks anyone with information to contact them at 361-972-3605.
