LAKE PALESTINE, Texas ( KETK ) – It was only a month ago when severe storms rocked people living near Lake Palestine, so on this Fourth of July, the community is coming together to support tornado victims.

“There was a lot of devastation that people don’t know about,” said Bella Vista event venue owner, Dan Crouch. “There’s still people with trees in their yards, electrical poles down and they just don’t have the money to get someone in there.”

That’s why East Texans in this area are locking arms in their recovery efforts to fundraise on one of the busiest days on the lake.

“Everywhere I looked neighbors where helping each other and that’s what we do in East Texas” said Bella Vista manager, Herbert Hilburn.

The Mayor of Coffee City had the idea to pair up with local community leaders to host a firework and music show party to raise money for those affected by the storms.

“We’re here to raise money for the tornado victims,” said Crouch. “This is what this is about but the bonus is come out here with your family and have probably the best Fourth of July you’ll ever have.”

Crouch also told KETK that sponsors have come together to make this event happen on short notice. All proceeds will be going to tornado victims in the area.

“The great thing is, we’re not done.” said Crouch. “We’ve got a donation table that’s going to be set up, if you want to come in a donate you can or you can donate online .”

This is a two-part event with the finale light show happening on Sunday.

“If folks aren’t able to make it to this one, they should come out to Lake Palestine Resort” said general manager at lake Palestine resort, Micah Wolfe

The event planners said bring your friends and family because not only will it be a fun night, but it will also support a great cause.

Tickets for Thursday’s event are $10 for children and $25 for adults. Tickets can be bought online or in person.
