    PBSO Identifies Man Whose Body Was Found 40 Years Ago

    A man whose body was found in Palm Beach County 40 years ago has finally been identified, now the Sheriff's Office is working to find out who killed him.

    The skeletal remains of Joseph Newman were discovered in some brush along U.S. Highway 27 in February of 1984.

    He had been missing since the previous year when he had moved to the Miami-Dade area from New Jersey.

    Investigators say they were able to I.D. the man thanks to advancements in genetic forensics.

    PBSO wants to hear from any friends or associates of Newman from the 1980s and they are trying to locate one individual named Jamie, who may have been one of the last people to see Newman before he disappeared.

    A $3,000 reward is being offered in the cold case by Crime Stoppers and tips can be provided by dialing 800-458-TIPS or ** TIPS on any cell phone.
