Feeding South Florida is gearing up for the annual Outrun Hunger 5K in Palm Beach County to celebrate Hunger Action Month.

Runners, families, and community leaders of all ages will gather in Okeeheelee Park, West Palm Beach, to raise funds and awareness to end hunger in South Florida.

Hunger Action Month, a nationwide initiative created by Feeding America, takes place throughout September. It is designed to raise awareness about the issue of hunger in America and inspire others to take action to end it.

Currently, over 1.2 million people in South Florida are food insecure, and 1 in 9 remain uncertain about where they will get their next meal.

The Outrun Hunger 5K is set for Saturday, Sept 21, at 6:30 a.m.

Feeding South Florida is a member of the Feeding American network and is the leading hunger relief organization serving

Palm Beach, Broward, Miami-M Dade, and Monroe Counties. It provides support for 25 percent of the state’s food-insecure cure population and aims to end hunger in South Florida by providing immediate access to nutritious food and leading hunger advocacy efforts.
