BOYNTON BEACH — A 92-year-old man has died from injuries he sustained this week in a crash near Boynton Beach, the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office reported.

Investigators identified the man as Robert Stein of suburban Boynton Beach.

Stein died on Wednesday, Aug. 14, six days after crashing his 2023 Chevrolet Equinox SUV into a tree, the sheriff's office said. The crash happened at about 5:30 p.m. Aug. 8 on the 3900 block of Boynton Beach Boulevard, near Lawrence Road.

Stein was driving west on Boynton Beach Boulevard approaching the intersection at Lawrence when he failed to notice traffic slowing in front of him, the sheriff's office said. He then made an abrupt lane change and veered across two traffic lanes before going over a curb and a sidewalk and onto the grass shoulder.
