Odell Beckham injury update from Miami Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel

TAMPA — Miami Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel provided injury updates after Friday's game on Odell Beckham Jr. , Jevon Holland , Erik Ezukanma, Patrick McMorris, Aaron Brewer and Benito Jones.

Beckham, OBJ, the star receiver, has not practiced or played for the Dolphins since he signed.

Is McDaniel optimistic Beckham will practice before the season?

"I'm hopeful about a lot of things," McDaniel said. "Again, I'm not nervous about it. You hope, but you have to listen to people's bodies and be very communicative. I know he's feeling very optimistic about how things are developing, but you just take one day at a time. And like I said before, I'm not in a position of nervousness because of the way that he's been involved. He's found a way to be a leader of sorts without playing. That's tough to do, but his mindset's right, and so I feel good about that."

Will injured Odell Beckham Jr. practice for Miami Dolphins ?

If needed, the Dolphins could give Beckham a designation that would cause him to miss at least the first four games of the season.

The nature of Beckham's injury woe has not been disclosed, though he's had knee trouble before.

Jevon Holland injury update from Miami Dolphins

Regarding Holland, also out with an unspecified concern, McDaniel said: "He had a good, really good workout today that he was excited about. I would say it would be about day to day at this point."

That's extremely important, considering Holland is one of the most important players on the team.

Erik Ezukanma, Patrick McMorris Dolphins injuries

Regarding Ezukanma and McMorris, who were seen before the game wearing walking boots, McDaniel said: "I would say at this point, what I do know it's not longer than week to week, but it could be more expeditious."

Brewer, the center, has been out with a hand injury.

"Aaron, nothing has really changed with that," McDaniel said. "Feel pretty good about it, but don't know concrete. I think that's why it was important tonight for us to feel really good about where Rob Jones and Lester Cotton have been at and they just try to get him some game experience."

Why didn't Liam Eichenberg play for Dolphins?

Why rest guard/center Liam Eichenberg on Saturday?

"Liam, it was more of a reaction to what he's been doing day in day out and he's probably had as good of a camp as anybody and really put together some good practices," McDaniel said.

As for nose tackle Benito Jones' availability for the season, McDaniel said: "You know, it's hard to forecast Week 1 for a lot of the guys, specifically because in the last couple days, you know, such major focus goes to all these huge opportunities for a lot of guys. As of right now, I'm not nervous about it at all. I also need to sit down and I've wrapped my head around some of those guys, including Benito, because it's just so important to me to really invest and be 100% present with the guys that are completing our roster."
