Whether you’re a Taylor Swift enthusiast that notices the artist’s lucky number every time it pops up or just a lover of all things superstitious and macabre, you’re probably aware that the next Friday the 13th is this week.

There are only two Friday the 13th dates on the 2024 calendar and the first may be this week, but the second will be special for all Swifties who celebrate.

Here’s when the next Friday the 13th will be, why it’s significant, why the “Eras Tour” popstar loves the number 13 and some ways to celebrate.

How many Friday the 13ths are in 2024? When are they?

The first of the two comes this week, on September 13, 2024, exactly 13 weeks before the second Friday the 13th in December 2024. And the Friday the 13th in December of this year actually falls on the queen of 13's birthday.

How old will Taylor Swift turn on Friday, Dec. 13?

Swift will be turning 35-years-old when her spooky Friday the 13th birthday rolls around at the end of the year.

When will Swift's birthday fall on Friday the 13th again?

The next time Swift celebrates a birthday on a Friday will be her 52nd (which is also divisible by 13) in 2041.

Why is Friday the 13th seen as an unlucky day?

A date that inspired an entire movie franchise and created phobia for many (paraskevidekatriaphobia for those curious). Why is Friday the 13th an unlucky date?

First off, 13 is considered an unlucky number mainly in Western culture. It also has a name to describe the irrational dread of the date: triskaidekaphobia, a fear of the number 13. The History Channel says that researchers estimate that as many as 10% of the U.S. population has a fear of the number 13.

But what makes it so unlucky? According to University of South Carolina Professor Emeritus of Sociology Barry Markovsky , the explanation isn't exactly clear. It could have to do with the juxtaposition of "Lucky 12:" the number of months in the year, gods on Olympus, signs of the zodiac and apostles of Jesus.

He also wrote that in Norse mythology, the god Loki was 13th to arrive at a feast in Valhalla, where he tricked another attendee into killing the god Baldur. Then in Christianity, Judas — the apostle who betrayed Jesus — was the 13th guest at the Last Supper.

But really, he says the reason why the number gets a bad reputation is because of rumors and urban legends. Westerners still tend to alter their behaviors on Friday the 13th despite there not being any evidence that the date has negative effects.

Why does Taylor Swift like the number 13 so much?

Let's go "back to December" to when her connection with the number 13 first started — Dec. 13, 1989 in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania. On a Wednesday, not a Friday.

"I was born on the 13th, I turned 13 on Friday the 13th, my first album went gold in 13 weeks," Swift said during an interview with MTV in 2009.

Since then, she's always sported the number 13. The star used to draw the number with colored eyeliner on her hands during previous tours. Thirteen has also appeared in Swift's social media, with her X handle still listed as @taylorswift13.

In the same MTV interview, Swift told reporters that every time she's won an award, she's "been seated in either the 13th seat, the 13th row, the 13th section or row M, which is the 13th letter."

News site The Tennessean has also noted that many of her songs feature a 13-second intro , starting with one of her first hits "Our Song."

More recently, the number has crept into other parts of her life. For example, she attended NFL Kansas City Chief games last season to support boyfriend, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, with the Super Bowl being the last game. She also announced her album "The Tortured Poets Department" while winning her 13th Grammy Award.

Why do Swifties put 13s on their hands?

Fans have taken her lead with writing it on their hands during her concerts. Despite the popstar not donning the 13 anymore during her tours, fans show up to her performances wearing her lucky number and extra friendship bracelet as well.

What are Miami dates for the 2024 Taylor Swift Eras Tour?

Swift will perform in Miami on Friday, Oct. 18 through Sunday, Oct. 20 at the Hard Rock Stadium. The Chiefs have a game on Oct. 20.

Where is Hard Rock Stadium in Miami?

Hard Rock Stadium actually is not in Miami. It's at 347 Don Shula Drive Suite 102, Miami Gardens, and will be the site of Taylor Swift’s Florida concert in 2024.

The last time Swift performed at Hard Rock Stadium was on her 2018 Reputation Tour. Kelce also has history with the stadium — the Chiefs won the 2020 Super Bowl in Miami.

Can I still purchase tickets for the Taylor Swift shows in Florida?

Tickets to all three of the Miami dates for Taylor Swift’s “The Eras Tour” sold out via Ticketmaster about a year ago. However, resale tickets are available via StubHub and SeatGeek .

However, beware as a majority of these tickets are sold by scalpers above face value, ranging from $1,000 to $10,000 for seats. For example, one of the cheapest set of tickets on StubHub for Miami's Oct. 18 date is $1,915 per ticket for a "limited, obstructed" view.

Not a Swiftie? No problem, here's how you can celebrate Friday the 13th without any mentions of popstar

If you aren’t a Taylor Swift fan, there are many ways to celebrate Friday the 13th – after all, the superstition predates the “Eras Tour” star’s obsession with the number.

Here are some ways people celebrate Friday the 13th:

    • Watch the classic 1980 slasher film that shares the holiday’s name: You can rent the original “Friday the 13th” movie  on Plex, Apple TV, Fandango (previously Vudu) and Amazon Prime Video for around $4 or watch it on FreebieTV for free. The 2009 remake of the film is also available to rent on Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV and Fandango, for around $3 to $4.
    • Plan a Friday the 13th party: Is there any better day for a party than a Friday, anyway? If you want to really lean into the theme, throw a spooky party with 13 of your closest friends.
    • Test your luck: If you aren’t afraid of summoning some bad luck, try testing out some superstitions that are associated with bad luck. You can look in the mirror and say “Bloody Mary” three times, walk under a ladder, or whatever spooky superstition you’re curious about.
    • Indulge in a baker’s dozen: This one is pretty self-explanatory. A “baker’s dozen” is just 13 of your favorite pastry, donut, cupcake, etc. Pick up a baker’s dozen of your favorite sweet treats and share them with friends, or just keep them all to yourself.
    • Get tatted: Some tattoo parlors run $13 tattoo specials every Friday the 13th. Check out your local tattoo parlors’ social media accounts to see if they’re running a flash tattoo special this Friday the 13th.
