Western will host a white-hot Chaminade-Madonna team on Friday night in a matchup between a large public school versus a small (and storied) private school.

Chaminade-Madonna has righted the ship in notable fashion, picking up wins over American heritage, Edison, and Norland after starting the season 0-2. Western will face its third team ranked in the Super 25 in four weeks, and has yet another waiting in the wings next week in West Boca.

Chaminade-Madonna (3-2) is ranked No. 9 overall and No. 2 in Class 1A, while Western (1-3) is ranked No. 7 in Class 7A.

State Ranking: No. 9 in the USA Today Florida Network Super 25, No. 2 in Class 1A

Chaminade-Madonna rattled off their third-straight win after downing Norland 45-20 last week. Quarterback Preston Wright threw for two touchdowns and two interceptions with 284 yards on 22-of-38 completions. Five-star ATH Derrek Cooper had an interception and two fumble recoveries with 84 rushing yards and a touchdown on nine carries. Miami commit Donta Simpson Jr. tallied three sacks while fellow Hurricane commit Chris Ewald broke up three passes.

State Ranking: No. 7 in Class 7A

Western is in the middle of a gauntlet in their schedule, coming off of losses to Hoover (Ala.), American Heritage, and St. Thomas Aquinas. The climb only continues for the Wildcats as they get set to take on Chaminade-Madonna this Friday, followed by West Boca Raton the following week.
