Palm Beach International Airport will close Wednesday night and most major airlines are offering passengers the chance to rebook their flights for cheap or free.

PBIA will close at 9 p.m. on Wednesday and will reopen Thursday if the weather is good enough, the airport said Tuesday evening in a news release.

Shopping and dining will be limited on Wednesday and Thursday. The airport recommends checking its website, PBIA.org, or its social media for its latest updates. PBIA's handle on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and Twitter is flyPBI. Passengers should check with their airlines for updates on their schedule, the airport said. Airport staff is monitoring the storm.

Miami International and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International were both open as of Wednesday night. Those airports were also monitoring the storm.

    Orlando International is closed.

Some airlines are waiving fees for cancellations

Each airline has a different set of rules for passengers seeking to rebook their flights. Not all airlines are offering rescheduling waivers for PBIA passengers.

Allegiant Airlines contacting passengers, full refunds

PBIA passengers on Allegiant will get full refunds or changes to their flight without incurring additional costs, airline spokesman Hector Mejia said Tuesday night. The company will contact passengers whose flights are affected by the hurricane, he said.

But, the airline notes on its website, passengers may have to pay more if the new fare is more expensive.
