Animal Care & Control Warns Again About 'Lost Pet Scam' In Palm Beach

Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control is reminding you of a scam involving crooks targeting owners of lost pets.

Concerned community members who post their contact information on one of several websites like Next Door, Paw Boost, PetCo Love and the Loxahatchee Lost and Found Facebook page are receiving calls from someone identifying themselves as an employee of Animal Care and Control.

The caller says the lost animals are injured and the owners need to send money immediately to take care of the pets' urgent medical needs.

The agency says they will never call to ask for money and will continue to treat injured animals while trying to track down their owners. If you get a call like this, report it to law enforcement and the agency where you listed your lost pet.
