July 25 wine dinner at Café Boulud in Palm Beach will celebrate wines, cuisine of Spain

The revered Catalonian city of Barcelona, among other places in the Iberian peninsula, will be hailed at Café Boulud as part of the French-American restaurant’s planned July 25 wine dinner celebrating some of the wines and cuisine of Spain.

The four-course menu will include wines from the Priorat region of Catalonia (in the northeast of Spain), which is known for its rich winemaking history dating back nearly 1,000 years.

Café Boulud's head Sommelier David Sauer chose the wines for the affair.

Following a reception at 6:45 p.m., guests will be treated to a first course of black rice paired with sepia, shrimp and squid ink, paired with Terroir al Limit, Terra de Cuques Blanc, Priorat 2019.

For the second course, guests will be served secreto de Iberico (pork shoulder) accompanied by wild mushrooms, summer beans and green onion, paired with Terroir al Limit, Historic Rouge, Priorat 2018.

The third course will feature lamb chop with piquillo pepper and potato served with R. López de Heredia, `Viña Tondonia,’ Rioja Reserva 2011.

Dessert? Figue y amande: roasted figs with almond crumble and vanilla ice cream paired with Bodega Tradición, Pedro Ximénez Tradición V.O.S., Jerez NV.
