Mattamy Homes and Citrus Grove Elementary in Palm City are partnering to launch the inaugural Walk with Goats field trip, a program designed to make reading especially rewarding to students who embrace it, on May 13 and 15.

The field trip will take place at KC Trails, the large-scale conservation area that’s part of Newfield in Palm City. Walk with Goats, which Mattamy plans to make a reoccurring experience, will honor the top performing Martin County School District (MCSD) Reads students from kindergarten through fifth grade.

Citrus Grove Elementary recognizes its top readers in the program as GOATs (Greatest of All Time). Thus, Mattamy arranged for the kids to enjoy some time on the trails with actual goats.

Harmony Hope Stables , a Palm City charitable organization and a certified Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship (PATH) center, will lead the students on a guided walk of the trails with the goats starting at 3:30 p.m. May 13 and 15. After the walk, students will have the chance to groom the goats, feed them treats, take photos, and participate in music activities.
