Two young men were killed after a car crash into a brick wall at a high speed early Friday morning in Palm Desert.

The crash happened at an off-road next to a storage facility off of Painters Path near Fred Waring. The Riverside County Sheriff's Office said investigators learned the crash happened just before 3:00 a..m., however, it was not reported to dispatch until 6:00 AM

"Evidence located at the scene indicated the driver of the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed, westbound on Fred Waring Drive. It did not stop at the intersection of Painters Path before colliding with a brick wall. Further evidence at the scene indicated drugs/alcohol are likely a factor in this collision," reads a news release by the Riverside County Sheriff's Office.

Two people were extricated from the car.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. He was identified as Aden Frankie Hernandez, 20, of Thermal.

Authorities said the passenger suffered major injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where they were later pronounced dead shortly after 8:00 AM. He was identified by the coroner's office as Carlos Juarez, 21, of Indio.
