Like any historic era, the Golden Age of Hollywood was far from flawless, yet there's just no denying its impeccable style and prestige. The better part of a century on from Hollywood's Golden Age, there's still a lasting affinity for the lavish, uniquely-Southern Californian celebrity chic that pervaded Hollywood throughout the first half of the 20th century.

Though icons like Marilyn Monroe and Clark Gable have long since passed, the glamor of old Hollywood lives on in places like the resort we're talking about today: the Ingleside Estate in Palm Springs, California. This sophisticated adults-only resort is the closest you'll get to experiencing Hollywood's Golden Age firsthand without hopping into a time machine!

    Historic Ties to Old Hollywood

The Ingleside's ties to classic Hollywood go deeper than its looks, though. According to the Ingleside Estate's website, the estate was once an invitation-only retreat catering to an elite class of celebrity in the early 20th century, with Marilyn Monroe , Marlon Brando, Elizabeth Taylor, and Salvador Dali listed among its many esteemed guests. The estate was eventually bought and opened to the public in the mid-1970s, but the prestige brought to the Ingleside Estate by its illustrious clientele persists!

    The Ingleside's Amenities

Modern-day guests of the Ingleside Estate can stay in one of the resort's 30 suites and villas, ranging from the cozy Estate Suites up to the two-bed, two-bath Melvyn Suite in the property's private northeast corner. The luxurious, Spanish-style architecture and vintage decor carry the glamorous feel of the resort from its opulent grounds into its intimate suites.

Speaking of the resort's grounds, there's much to do and see. The Ingleside Estate shares amenities with its sister resort , the Avalon Palm Springs, which lies "less than 100 steps away." Between the two properties, guests have access to a 24-hour fitness facility, a deluxe spa, around 7 acres of pristinely manicured grounds and gardens, and multiple pools with stunning views of the nearby San Jacinto Mountains. Guests also have access to complimentary bikes that they can use to explore the twin resort properties!

For on-site dining, you've got two options. Chi Chi at the Avalon Palm Springs property is an indoor-outdoor restaurant and bar with poolside service, serving brunch, bar service, and dinner from 8 am to 10 pm daily. For a sophisticated experience with an elegant edge, head back to the Ingleside Estate for a dinner at Melvyn’s. Dressed to the nines in classy mid-century modern decor, this steakhouse serves martinis, live music, local cuisine, and much more!

You don't have to be an iconic Hollywood celebrity to stay at the Ingleside Estate - at least, not these days. With this property's history, glamor, and elegance, though, it'd be hard for a guest not to feel like one!
