Is your favorite Coachella Valley restaurant closed for the summer? Here's a guide

I know. Leaving your (hopefully) cool home to venture into the sweltering summer air sounds like the last thing you want to do right now, but what about a nice dinner out? You don't have to do any work, and your place won't feel like a literal oven after having yours on for long enough to overheat the whole family.

If escaping into a nice air-conditioned restaurant sounds appealing, you might face a roadblock, however: summer closures and summer hours. This is the time of year when locals (and the rare brave visitor) have a slightly smaller list of choices when it comes to dining out, so it's important to check that your favorite spot isn't on a summer break.

Here's our guide to what restaurants are closed for the summer, and which have limited hours:

Palm Springs

• Cheeky's (reopening Aug. 15)
• French Miso Café (reopening date unknown, but voicemail says "see you in the fall")
• Johnny Costa's Ristorante (reopening Sept. 6)
• Peninsula Pastries (reopening Sept. 12)
• John Henry's Café (reopening Sept. 27)
• Tyler's Burgers (reopening Sept. 1)
• Miro's (reopening Aug. 29)
• Copley's on Palm Canyon (reopening Aug. 30)

Rancho Mirage

• Alice B. in Palm Springs : 4-9 p.m. Wednesday-Sunday (brunch is gone for the summer but will return in the fall, and there's a special summer sips & bites menu available 4-6 p.m. Wednesday-Sunday)
• Townie Bagels in Palm Springs : 6:30 a.m.-noon Wednesday-Sunday in August and September
• Bubba's Bones & Brews in Cathedral City : 11:30 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday-Saturday, and 11:30 a.m.-8 p.m. Sunday (with happy hour "all day and all night for the summer," said manager Jen Thill)
• Little Bar in Palm Desert : 4-10 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 4 p.m.-midnight Friday and Saturday and closed Sunday
• Babe's Bar-B-Que & Brewery in Rancho Mirage: 4-9 p.m. Wednesday-Sunday
• Beautiful Day in La Quinta : 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursdays to Mondays; closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays
