    Fundraising Reveals Competition in Palm Springs District 4 City Council Race

    Five candidates have qualified for the ballot to run for City Council District 4 in Palm Springs which encompasses approximately 9000 residents.

    The five candidates have qualified for the upcoming November election include:

    Fundraising amounts have been submitted to the City of Palm Springs for the period of January 1, 2024 to June 30, 2024. Here are the fundraising totals per candidate:

    David Rios raised $26,155.09 in contributions and received a loan for $7,250 totaling his fundraising dollars to $33,405.09. He has so far spent $4338.24 with a total of $29,066.85 cash on hand.

    Naomi Soto has raised $18,144.00 in contributions with an additional loan of $525 totaling her fundraising dollars to $19,791.14. Her total expenditures to date are $3397.41 with a cash on hand amount of $16,393.73.

    Joe Jackson raised $12,379 in contributions and has so far spent $5,505 with a total of $7,065 cash on hand.

    Ernest Cecena had a beginning cash balance of $2239.08 before this fundraising period and has raised $5769 in addition contributions. He has so far spent $4365.29 with a total of $3642.79 cash on hand.

    Campaign contributions are important because it helps pay for political mailers and/or other ways to reach voters in the district. In Palm Springs, campaign contribution limits are are $5,500 per person pursuant to Assembly Bill 571.
