Sprucing up Gladbrook City Park
GLADBROOK – Gladbrook City Park received a little facelift earlier this month. On July 11, Remington Seeds of Marshalltown brought in a small crew to spruce up the park as their community service project this summer. The company funded the park project and some of their employees volunteered to do the work.

New Illinois Law Requires Weather Radios In Certain Homes
It's been a rough tornado season and a new Illinois law is taking aim at that. We can all agree it's been a messy summer. In the Chicago area alone last week, there were 33 tornadoes, compared to their usual 5 or 6 per year. With the derecho that moved through last week, 5 tornadoes rolled through the QCA. In Iowa, May was ridiculous. We average 11 tornadoes in May. But this year, we had over 80 tornadoes in May alone.
Tree Vouchers Available For Cedar Rapids Residents
(Cedar Rapids, IA) -- Cedar Rapids residents can apply for a tree voucher to help replant the city's tree canopy destroyed after the 2020 derecho. Trees Forever is partnering with six local nurseries to provide $100 or $250 vouchers for residents to purchase a tree from the city's ReLeaf Master Tree list.
