Earlier today, we learned about the passing of wrestling great Sid Eudy, as better known to millions as Sid Vicious and Sid Justice. Embedded below are some of the higher-profile tributes which have already posted; as you will read below, Booker T fully credits Sid for getting him his first big break.

Me, personally... In 2018 I had heard on a podcast that Sid was looking for somebody to help write his autobiography. He was especially eager to talk about his philanthrophy as part of that book. I got his phone number through sending a message through Sid's official Facebook fan page. I was told to call Sid as he would be expecting my call.

Ultimately, I called Sid and he started to tell me really random stories that I did not ask for, that had nothing to do with writing a book for him. "And then Vince promised me the belt..." "And then Hulk Hogan double-crossed me..." I guess I was a good listener, because he told me to call back on a certain day and also to send samples of my writing. From what I understood, his ex-wife would print out my writing samples and then he would read them.

Sid and I continued to play phone tag in the coming weeks and months. You would sometimes call and it would ring upwards of 15 times because he didn't have an answering machine. I recall he mentioned that sometimes when I called he had been busy doing farm work, speaking to how active Sid was even after retiring as a full-time wrestler. But during each chat, I recall him telling me stories from his WWF days that had nothing to do with writing a book.

Ultimately I called one day, after he had my writing printed out for him, and Sid told me point blank that my writing style did not suit him and he had another author in mind. I don't think his book ever came out.

Quirks aside, Sid Eudy's career as a professional wrestler saw him working on top in multiple companies for more than a decade. He looked great, he had charisma and he was convincing. Undoubtedly, he is not a performer people will stop talking about anytime soon, and he has been long deserving of a WWE Hall Of Fame induction. Condolences to Sid's friends and family.
