Alex Dezen On The Damnwells' New LP, Justin Bieber, Cheap Trick & More - "Paltrocast" Exclusive
Formed in Brooklyn, The Damnwells held their first band practice in 2000. Alex Dezen, a former stage actor who starred in Les Miserables as a child, was no stranger to the stage. Neither was Steven Terry, who had kicked off his career as a member of the iconic alt-country band Whiskeytown. Those unique backgrounds gave way to an equally unique sound, and Bastards Of The Beat — The Damnwells' 2003 debut album, recorded in the musicians' own rehearsal space and released by Epic Records — introduced a band caught halfway between the streetwise swagger of New York's indie-rock scene and the raw, rootsy timelessness of Americana. Air Stereo followed in 2006 from The Damnwells, along with a documentary film, Golden Days, that chronicled the band's departure from Epic Records.

Dabbleverse Experts On Dabblecon 2, John Melendez & More - "Paltrocast" Exclusive
The Dabbleverse is hard to explain to anyone not already entrenched in it. But even for those in the know, the Dabbleverse of August 2024 does not resemble the Dabbleverse from almost four years ago when comedian and podcaster Chrissie Mayr first interviewed Stuttering John Melendez about his "dabbling" in stand-up comedy. Back then in September 2020, the Dabbleverse did not have a proper, widely accepted name, nor were many of today's key players active within the Dabbleverse. Four years later, Dabbleverse is now big enough to warrant its second, international, weekend-long gathering -- Dabblecon 2 kicks off in Rochester, New York on Friday, August 16, 2024 -- and some of its related content creators now appear to be earning full-time livings off of the Dabbleverse-related content they produce.
