    St. Joe Community Foundation to present donation to FSU PC on May 13th

    PANAMA CITY — The St. Joe Community Foundation will present donations to two of Florida State University Panama City's programs on May 13.

    The foundation will donate $50,000 for the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at FSU PC/30A, and $30,000 for The Collegiate School at FSU PC .

    According to a press release from Florida State University Panama City, OLLI at FSU PC/30A, based at the Ohana Institute in Walton County, offers educational non-credit courses as well as entertainment through classes, field trips, socials, special events and travel.

    “OLLI at FSU PC/30A is deeply appreciative of the financial support provided by the St. Joe Foundation,” Margaret Walters Gamble, learning coordinator, is quoted as saying in the release. “With this generous funding, we will continue to provide scholarly and exciting classes and events targeted to adults who embrace lifelong learning. Through in-person, online and experiential learning opportunities, our goal is to provide the means for adults to lead an active and intellectually stimulating ‘second half.’ ”

    The Collegiate School (TCS) at Florida State University Panama City is a laboratory charter high school that offers a tuition-free, rigorous college preparatory curriculum and career preparation. The school opened in August 2023 with a ninth grade class and will offer grades 9-12 by 2026.

    “TCS is so grateful to the St. Joe Community Foundation for its contribution to the continuing education of students in our area,” TCS Director Debbi Whitaker is quoted as saying in the release. “Thanks to the Foundation’s generosity, TCS is looking forward to providing even more resources and opportunities for students from across the county. It is in the hands-on and experiential opportunities that our students truly accelerate their engagement in learning.”

    The St. Joe Community Foundation has contributed to many Panama City causes, with a special emphasis on education, the environment, healthcare and cultural arts. The foundation was created in 1999 by the St. Joe Company. According to the foundation website, the foundation is a private, 501(c)(3) nonprofit that is "dedicated to enriching the quality of life of the people who live, work and play in Northwest Florida."

    St. Joe Company has contributed to the area in many ways, including building hotels , medical offices and sport complexes .
