It takes a brave person to step up and face contact in every play. Linebackers constantly keep their eyes on the backfield, and the moment they spot a ball carrier, they lock in with tunnel vision, charging downfield to deliver a powerful hit.

Throughout last season Bay County featured eight linebackers who totaled over 100 tackles with many returning to get active and set records.

Here's a look at 10 of the county's linebackers you should keep an eye on in 2024. Kickoff classics are set for Friday, with the regular season starting on Aug. 23.

    Eli Alhasson, Arnold

Coaches are excited about the potential of sophomore Eli Alhasson, who will fly around and deliver on third downs. Alhasson stands at 6-foot-1, 195 pounds and will be a name to watch for this season.

    Daelyn Davis, Arnold

Davis brings the experience of last season into this year. Coaches believe he will make a huge impact as a leader on the defense. As a freshman, he recorded 11 tackles and will aim to increase his production.

    Kaden Brown, Bay

Brown had a productive freshman campaign and will be a big-impact player this fall. Last season he totaled 24 tackles, two sacks and an interception.

    Temarion Davis, Bay

The outside linebacker/defensive back hybrid is excellent in space and has the speed to track down running backs and receivers. Last season he had 68 tackles, two sacks and an interception.

    Zachery Roper, Bay

Roper doubles as a linebacker and edge rusher but is proficient in both. Last season he had 21 tackles, a sack and is back with an experienced linebacker core.

    Jayden Spurlock, Bozeman

Spurlock has been a tackling machine and a consistent difference-maker at the outside linebacker position. Last season he led North Bay Haven with 121 tackles, two sacks and an interception.

    Kalib Williams, Bozeman

Williams, who tied for the county's sack title with seven last year, aims for double-digit sacks in his final season. Paired with Spurlock, the duo has the potential to surpass 100 tackles each.

    Wyatt Fleming, Mosley

Fleming led the team in tackles (84) a season ago and looks to exceed those numbers in his junior season. He also recorded two sacks and is one of the county's best linebackers in coverage.

    Bear Siegal, North Bay Haven

Siegal provides for the Buccaneers in various ways as a linebacker, edge rusher and safety. Last season he made 27 tackles and an interception.

    Chaz'ton Scott, Rutherford

Scott returns as one of the most experienced members of the Rutherford defense. Last season he made 37 tackles and a team-high four sacks.
