Warm sunshine compliments our Independence Day
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT) - Weather will cooperate with us for the Independence Day happenings across Western Colorado. The fireworks at Snooks Bottom in Fruita starts at 9:30 this evening. Weather will be clear with a temperature around 80 degrees. The Independence Day Parade starts at 10 AM Thursday in both Downtown Grand Junction and in Palisade. Expect abundant sunshine with a temperature near 76 degrees. We’ll warm to 80 degrees just after 11 AM. Then the Grand Junction Jackalopes play at 5:35 PM. First Pitch will be sunny at 90 degrees. The last quarter will be sunny with lower 80s. The Grand Junction fireworks will begin just after the end of the game at Suplizio Field.

For the next several weeks, members of the Rotary Club of Cedaredge are selling raffle tickets to coincide with their upcoming Summer Scramble Golf Tournament. Set for Saturday, August 17, the golf tournament is a fundraiser to help the club provide post-secondary scholarships for Cedaredge High School graduates. Woman killed in hit-and-run crash in Denver
The Denver Police Department is investigating what led up to an early morning that killed a woman. The driver was later located and arrested.Denver Police say they first got the call of a crash around 3:45 a.m. Thursday at the intersection of Alameda and Dayton. This left the westbound lanes of Alameda closed for several hours. As the CBS Colorado First Alert Traffic Team arrived, they saw two cars with extensive damage. Our team stayed on scene for four hours during the investigation.Police confirmed the woman involved in the crash was taken to the hospital where she died from her injuries. The driver involved was located and arrested. Police say the man, who has not yet been named, is being held for investigation of vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of a crash. The investigation is ongoing.
