As the Regional Transportation District grapples with crime issues on buses and light rail trains in the Denver metro area, CBS News Colorado has learned that its Chief of Police and Emergency Management, Joel Fitzgerald Sr., has been placed on leave as an outside investigator looks into alleged "policy violations." World War II soldier to be buried in Denver
DENVER (KKTV) - The remains of U.S Army Staff Sgt. Harold A. Schafer will be buried on July 29 at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver. Schafer was killed in action during World War II while engaged in battle with German forces north of Dillingen, Germany on Dec. 10, 1944. He was assigned to Company B, 1st Battalion, 357th Infantry Regiment, 90th Infantry Division.

CSP sounds alarm about increase in deadly motorcycle crashes
Authorities are sounding the alarm about deadly motorcycle crashes in our state. According to Colorado State Patrol, there have been 21 fatal motorcycle incidents this year. Historically, there is an increase in traffic deaths in the month of July, but the first two weeks of the month saw a drastic increase. The percentage of all deadly motorcycle crashes investigated by CSP Troopers rose by 37.5 percent. Six of the 16 deadly crashes involved a motorcycle.
