First Responders respond to a fire call in Bushnell that leads to an arrest
Bushnell, Neb. - First responders respond to a residential fire call which leads to the arrest of a man in Bushnell. According to the Kimball County Sheriff's Office (KCSO), dispatched received a call of a residential fire in Bushnell. As first responders responded to the scene, they encountered 48-year-old Travis McDonald. KCSO says in a post that McDonald was tazed and arrested for interfering with a firearm. No further information was given.
Inside John Denver's Studio, Guesthouse in Aspen, Now on Sale for $8.5 Million
The 2,900-square-foot property on five acres in Aspen that was once the studio and guesthouse of the late John Denver is for sale for $8.495 million. Located at 580 Johnson Drive in the exclusive Starwood neighborhood, the property is just twenty minutes outside of downtown Aspen and close to the Aspen/Pitkin County Airport for easy access via private jet. Denver wrote the song "Starwood in Aspen" about this home and the neighborhood.
Four units heavily damaged in fire at Aurora multi-family building
AURORA, Colo. — Four units were damaged after a fire broke out at a multi-family structure in Aurora on Thursday evening. Around 10 p.m. on Thursday, Aurora Fire Rescue received a report of the fire, which was burning a structure near the 100 block of S. Sable Boulevard, northeast of E. Alameda Parkway and Interstate 225.

Salida Council Regular Meeting Moves U.S. 50 Property Purchase Forward
Salida City Council held their first regular session of the month at 6:00 pm on July 2, 2024 moving forward a full slate of agenda items. Before the agenda was even approved, Council member Dominique Naccarato moved to discuss Ordinance 2024-10, a site lease and purchase agreement, immediately after Resolution 2024-41, the corresponding reimbursement proposal for the city’s purchase of the former Thrift Horse retail store at 325 West U.S. 50 as a proposed new 8,000 square foot Salida Police Building.
Aurora Swim Beach reopens on Fourth of July after closure for elevated bacteria
Authorities have reopened the swim area at Aurora Reservoir ahead of the Fourth of July holiday after it was closed on Wednesday due to elevated bacteria levels. The kayaking, paddle boarding and boating section of the reservoir have remained open to the public this entire time.Aurora Reservoir said 2024 annual passes are $85 and watercraft access passes are $20. Recently, the reservoir altered its hours to increase public safety and create a family-friendly environment. As of June 8, visitors to Aurora Reservoir are no longer allowed to bring or drink alcohol at the park. Loud music is also banned. The City of Aurora also adjusted park hours on weekends from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. Previously, the reservoir was open until 9:30 p.m. during June and July.

Meteorite Making Its Return To Johnstown
A hundred years ago, a famous meteorite landed near Johnstown Cemetery. Now, it’s making its return. The Loveland Reporter Herald reports The Johnstown Historical Society is hosting the “I Landed In Johnstown” Centennial Celebration on Saturday and will welcome back a near 12-pound meteorite from the 1924 celestial event. Events will occur throughout the day at both the cemetery and Roosevelt High School.The festivities will kick off at 10 a.m. with a dedication of a historical marker and permanent memorial space at the landing site in the cemetery, followed by vendors getting a chance to sell rocks, gems, fossils, meteorites, jewelry and other geology products to visitors.

Dotsero will have better internet service this year. Prospects are less certain for the rest of rural Eagle County. On Monday, Eagle County Director of Innovation and Technology Scott Lingle provided an update on rural broadband service to the Eagle County Board of Commissioners. Lingle’s presentation started with some good news about Dotsero.

In the middle was a sea of floats, costumed stilt walkers, marching bands, cheerleaders, dancers, vintage trucks and cars, animatronic gadgets, Smokey the Bear and Santa and his reindeer.
