Target Is Selling New Halloween Decor That's Scaring Up Mixed Reactions from Customers

Target is getting into the spooky spirit a few months early this year, though when you look at all the other brands launching Halloween merch, the popular retailer is actually right on time with its fall drop.
And this time, Lewis is bringing a couple of friends along for a spooktastic time: Little Lewis, Pumpkin Iron Lewcy, Bruce the Skeleton Ghoul and Pumpkin Rocker Billy.
Prices for Lewis and his friends range from $180 to just $10—so everyone can find something that suits their budget.
Last year, Lewis’ debut caused quite a stir on TikTok amongst mortals and celebs alike, taking over the Halloween scene with his sassy sayings.
And upon his return, Halloween-lovers and customers couldn’t be more excited about the products, with one commenting, “The way Lewis has become a Halloween icon 🎃” and “Lewis and his friends are icons!! 🧡🎃.”
Naturally, some felt it was a bit too early to be rolling out the Halloween decor in the thick of summer, with one noting, “Already??? Wasn’t new years just yesterday 😭” and “What are my thought? It’s too early to be pushin this stuff.”
And others pointed out that Target “missed a huge opportunity” by not introducing Lewis merch (there’s still time, just saying ), adding, “I want cups, hats, trick or treat bags, costumes, blow molds, bags, shirts....gimmee!!!”
Target did, however, give some insight into a handful of other items being added as part of the 2024 Halloween collection, including neon, terracotta, and midnight forest decor.
There’s also a handful of costumes only shoppable at Target, allowing you to transform into a Target employee—complete with the iconic red shopping basket—(yes, there’s also a Bullseye Target dog mascot onesie) and the reported "Pop Star" section from Hyde & EEK! Boutique, featuring countless outfit pieces that seem to have come straight from Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour closet—with many demanding that the retailer release adult sizes for the costumes as well.
Reviews were mixed for the products, with YouTuber Sarah Tuhro pointing out some of her favorite new items before declaring “a lot of the things look the same as from the previous year,” whereas someone disagreed, stating, “Definitely an improvement from last year so I’m happy.”
“This is so far shaping up to be a low buy Halloween season for me. Many pieces are a 'meh' across the various retailers, and I am used to getting excited about a lot and trying to restrain myself from overbuying. I am finding some cute pieces, but overall not particularly tempted by much,” another commenter weighed in.
There was a bit of excitement for the neon collection, with many pointing out it was giving “classic early 90s Halloween” and offering “vintage style with a bit of a modern twist.”
