'The Bachelor' Names New Lead for Season 29

We still have a few weeks to go in Jenn Tran 's history-making season of The Bachelorette , and ABC has just revealed who will lead the OG series when it returns for Season 29

Following an emotional exit Monday night, Jenn's most recent castoff suitor, Grant Ellis, was named as the next star of The Bachelor .

The adventurous day trader, who won hearts when he told Jenn he wanted to settle down and "be a dad his kids ran to when he came home from work," will be the second Black male lead in franchise history.

He follows Matt James , who broke boundaries as the first Black Bachelor lead in history when he starred helmed Season 25.

A self-proclaimed mama’s boy, Grant said in a release that he hopes to find a partner who "shares his values of loyalty, humor and a deep appreciation for life’s simple pleasures."

The former pro basketball player is passionate about his career as a day trader, but when he’s not immersed in the fast-paced world of finance, you can find him cheering on the Lakers, hitting strikes at the bowling alley, or belting out tunes at karaoke nights.

But don't get too excited yet. The next season of the flagship series won't return until Spring 2025.
