Mel Gibson has largely stayed out of the spotlight in recent years, but the 68-year-old star stepped out to support Vince Vaughn when he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Monday, August 12.

Gibson was notably dressed down for the event, wearing a white polo shirt, blue ombre shorts, and black sunglasses. He flashed a wide smile for the cameras as he posed for pics alongside Vaughn, who wore a suit for the occasion.

Vaughn's wife, Kyla Vaughn , and their two children, daughter Locklyn and son Vernon , were also in attendance.

Vaughn and Gibson co-starred in the 2019 crime drama Dragged Across Concrete , directed by S. Craig Zahler , as two corrupt police officers who are put on suspension without pay after video leaks of them brutalizing a suspect as part of a sting operation.

In 2023, Gibson was dropped as Co-Grand Marshall of a parade in New Orleans when organizers received threats less than 24 hours after announcing his involvement in the event.

After the actor/director was ousted from the parade, the ADL (Anti-Defamation League), the Jewish Federation of Greater New Orleans, the Greater New Orleans Clergy Council, and the Jewish Community Relations Council released a statement commenting on his "long history" of fueling "forms of hate."

"We find his choice as Grand Marshal of Endymion was completely insulting and shortsighted," the statement concluded.

In response, Dan Kelly , president of the organization responsible for the parade, issued an apology.

"Our inclusion of Mr. Gibson was meant to be in recognition of his acting career and was in no way meant to give credence to his statements otherwise. We regret this incident and will do better in the future."
