Matt Damon Issues Rare Comment on Ben Affleck's Life Amid Jennifer Lopez Divorce Rumors

Friends and collaborators Ben Affleck and Matt Damon have enjoyed successful careers in Hollywood, but they've had very different experiences as celebrities. And while the pair rarely speak about each other's private lives, Damon recently commented on Affleck and Jennifer Lopez 's reported marital woes.

On a recent episode of the RadioTimes podcast—where he appeared alongside Casey Affleck , his co-star in The Instigators —Damon said he "can't imagine" living under the same level of "scrutiny" that Ben faces, crediting his longtime marriage (to someone who's "not in the business") with how he's been able to lead a more under-the-radar existence.

"That really helped me—25 years ago, the gossip magazine culture was huge, but they ignored me," Damon said. "I wasn’t an exciting story—the guy who’s married, it’s boring! Scandal and sex, that’s what people would read magazines for."

"I’ve been really lucky. Especially when I look at Casey’s brother, Ben," Damon added. "We’ve had parallel careers in a lot of ways, but I can’t imagine living under that scrutiny for 25 years."

Ben—who recently made headlines for sporting a shaved faux-hawk —has been at the center of a gossip storm about an impending divorce from Lopez since May. The pair have reportedly been apart for several significant experiences since then, including their second anniversary, J.Lo's 55th birthday and a European vacation.

The couple also recently listed their $60 million Beverly Hills mansion for sale, with Ben buying a $20 million home in LA on the same day Lopez sold her penthouse in New York City.
