Four people were arrested on Thursday, Aug. 15, in connection with the fatal shooting of actor Johnny Wactor in Los Angeles, Calif.

The Los Angeles Police Department's (LAPD) Central Bureau Homicide executed search warrants at various locations around Los Angeles County, according to a Thursday afternoon press release . Authorities said they made the four arrests and gathered evidence as a result of those search warrants.

The LAPD identified the suspects as Robert Barceleau , 28, Leonel Gutierrez , 28, Sergio Estrada , 28, and Frank Olano , 22. Barceleau, Gutierrez and Estrada were each booked on an arrest warrant for murder, the news release said.

Earlier on Thursday, The Los Angeles Times reported that authorities were believed to be focusing on serving search warrants to suspects with ties to the Florencia 13 gang. Before the LAPD issued its news release confirming the arrests, Wactor's mother, Scarlett , told the Los Angeles-based television news station KTLA that authorities informed her as of midday Thursday that at least one person had been arrested.

The General Hospital star was walking to his car with a co-worker after a bartending shift in the early hours on Saturday, May 25, when he noticed three individuals who appeared to be fiddling with his vehicle. His family members later told KTLA that authorities believed he had interrupted an attempted catalytic converter theft. Wactor was fatally shot before the three individuals fled the scene.

Over the last three months, the LAPD has sought help from the public in identifying the three people who were gathered near Wactor’s vehicle at the time of the shooting. The department released surveillance images of all three people and their getaway car in an Aug. 4 community alert .

With what would have been Wactor’s 38th birthday fast approaching at the end of this month, his mother made her own plea for the public’s help at a news conference earlier this week.

“I’m asking that anybody that knows anything please come forward,” Scarlett said while standing outside Los Angeles City Hall on Tuesday, Aug. 13, according to The Associated Press . “It will help me and his brothers in our healing to know that they’ve been captured and convicted.”
