Is there anything more exciting than a viral food hack ? Costco is the recent recipient of a new wave of customers excited to try out an idea made popular by social media and shared by HGTV star Mina Starsiak Hawk .

Earlier this week, Mina hopped on Instagram to share a little known fact about Costco’s ground beef. Apparently, the popular bulk retailer will sell its members a 10-pound tube of ground beef right through the butcher's window. Mina goes on to mention that the hack is perfect for the “deal lovers, protein junkies and good old fashion meat lovers” of the world.

According to Mina, all credit goes to her husband Steve Hawk for doing the sleuth work online and discovering the money-saving trick . If you’re wondering about the quality of the beef being sold, she notes that the beef she purchased was 88% lean and cost just $44. That breaks down to about $4-5 per pound, which is an absolute steal considering retailers like Whole Foods will range between $8 and $12 per pound.

But Mina isn't the first person to share this hack. It's been making the rounds on social media, including on Gracie Norton 's feed, where she tells her viewers that she’s been “eating beef like it’s my job,” which inspired her to try the hack. She followed that up by taking us to Costco with her to show us how to buy the log o' meat.

“Ask for the ground beef tube,” Gracie says while the video shows her gleefully receiving the 10-pound tube of ground beef via the Costco butcher window. And that right there is the beauty of Costco summed up in one 20-second TikTok. A happy membership holder gleefully carrying her 10-pound tube of meat across the store to the checkout counter.

In Mina's video she showed her followers how easy it is to store the meat for later once you get home. She just split the ground beef into five 2-pound chunks, bagged them up and tossed them into the freezer. They'll be there when you need them for Labor Day burgers or maybe a hearty casserole once fall returns.
