Aldi Is Recalling a Popular Kitchen Gadget—Here's Why

Usually in the news for its incredible discount prices on both groceries and home goods , Aldi has recently found itself in a bit of hot water, thanks to one of their Ambiano brand appliances. In a press release from the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the fan-favorite discount retailer announced the recall of nearly 28,000 Ambiano Single Serve Coffee Makers due to a potential burn risk. So far, Aldi has received 25 reports of the coffee maker expelling hot water from the top of the machine—three of which include reports of actual burns.

The coffee makers in question were sold in gray, blue, pink and purple colors. Each appliance measures approximately 11-inches long with a 4.7-inch width and a 12-inch height. The Ambiano brand name can be found printed on the side of the coffee makers, with model numbers and UPC codes printed on the rating label found on the bottom of the unit.

Customers who suspect they have one of the recalled coffee makers in their possession can look for the following UPC codes and model numbers to be sure:

UPC Codes : 4061464174788, 4061464174801, 4061464174849, 4061464174825, 4061464174863

Model numbers: 708924 708925

These Ambiano coffee makers were sold at Aldi grocery stores in 38 states including the District of Columbia from July 2023 through September 2023. The appliance retailed for about $50, which customers can recoup entirely by returning the recalled product to their local Aldi retailer. For safety reasons, consumers should stop using the recalled coffee makers immediately, or risk the chance of becoming severely burned.

To take things a step further, consumers who visit www.recallrtr.com/aldicoffeemaker can potentially receive a $75 Aldi electronic gift card by registering the recalled coffee maker. These consumers will receive instructions on how to cut the unplugged cord, dispose of the product and upload photos of the coffee maker showing model number, registration number and the cut cord.
