Fans were amazed to see how much Gwen Stefani’s son Zuma looked like his mother as the No Doubt singer shared throwback photos in honor of her second-oldest child’s milestone birthday.
Zuma, whom Stefani shares with ex-husband Gavin Rossdale , celebrated his sweet 16 on Wednesday, Aug. 21. The proud mom shared a series of throwback photos and videos on Instagram to mark the special day and penned a sweet message that read, “happy Sweet 16, Zuma !! we love u SO much !! 🎉🎂.”
The montage of photos and videos that followed began with a few images of Zuma as an adorable blue-eyed baby. He grew up in the snapshots that followed, one of which showed him holding a guitar as a young kid. Another photo showed Zuma twinning with his mom as they each grinned at the camera while wearing similar pairs of black-framed glasses.
As the montage continued, Zuma appeared in photos with his stepfather, country music star Blake Shelton , and in photos and videos showing him holding a guitar as a teenager. The collection wound to an end with a view of Zuma playing guitar and singing at night, followed by what looked like a recent class yearbook photo of the teen.
Stefani paired her montage with a clip from Wade Hayes ’ “Old Enough to Know Better” instead of including the original audio for the clips of her son playing guitar. This prompted many of her fans to question when they might get an opportunity to hear the 16-year-old show off his musical chops.
“Taking after mom and dad, so cool!! Hope we get to hear him sing! Happy Birthday!!! 🎈,” one fan wrote as another echoed, “We’d love to hear him singing ❤️.”
In addition to the interest in music that Zuma shares with his mother, some fans couldn’t help but notice the physical similarities between the two.
“Zuma is Gwen’s twin 😍,” one person declared.
“Cutie pie🔥looks like his momma❤️,” another person noted.
Others gushed over the way that Zuma appeared to have grown up “in a blink of an eye,” with many telling Stefani they “Can't believe your boys are so grown already.”
“Awwwww 16 already! Looks like he’s a country boy now so cute!” one Instagram user wrote as another agreed Zuma already looked “all grown up.”
Stefani and Rossdale welcomed the arrival of their second child back in 2008. In addition to Zuma, they also share Kingston , 18, and Apollo , 10.
