Jimmy Fallon Breaks Out ‘the Best Acting’ He’s ‘Ever Done’ for Brand New Story About Taylor Swift on ‘Tonight Show’

Jimmy Fallon is known more for his skills as a comedian than an actor, but the Tonight Show host's dramatic skills were on full display for a recent "True Confessions" segment.

When Jenna Ortega and Catherine O'Hara appeared on The Tonight Show on August 22 to promote Beetlejuice Beetlejuice , Fallon sat down with the actresses to play the popular game, with everybody confessing things about themselves that weren't necessarily true. For his part, the host told a wild tale about getting his sweater stuck to Taylor Swift ’s sequined "dress" right before she was about to go on stage, almost causing a delay to her June Eras Tour concert (which Fallon said was taking place in London).

According to Fallon, he and Swift became accidentally enmeshed when he gave her a pre-performance hug. They were running to the stage, still attached, so that the singer wouldn't miss her cue, when a "crew guy" with a knife cut Fallon free.

Ortega and O'Hara were skeptical.

"So she went on stage with part of your sweater attached to her," O'Hara said.

"I don't know, it seems a little convenient," said Ortega. "I feel like he would be—he would love that story if it were true."

Fallon was shocked that his lie didn't go over well.

"I thought that was the best acting I've ever done," he protested. "That's the best acting I've ever done in my life."

Swifties on TikTok were quick to point out the obvious inaccuracies in Fallon's story.

"I was skeptical with Wembley in June...but then he said dress and not bodysuit," wrote one fan.

"I knew when he said he met her before the concert. She doesn't meet people before," pointed out another commenter.

"If Jimmy was in London in June, us Swifties would have known, especially if something this hilarious had happened," a third TikTok user confirmed.
