Ozzy Osbourne had some heartbreaking news to share with his fans on Thursday, Aug. 22.

The 75-year-old rocker revealed in a post on his social media channels that a “good friend” he’s had for more than one decade passed away earlier this week.

“Two days ago I lost my good friend Rocky who has been at my side for 15 years. I’ll see you on the other side my friend. I love you always,” the Black Sabbath frontman wrote . Accompanying his grief-stricken message was a photo of the Prince of Darkness wearing a navy suit jacket, black hat and trademark purple-tinted sunglasses while holding Rocky in one hand.

In response to Ozzy’s Facebook post about Rocky’s death, Black Sabbath’s official account shared a photo of the “Crazy Train” singer holding Rocky while standing beside guitarist Tony Iommi . It is one of several photos that the beloved Pomeranian has popped up in over the years. “Rest in Peace Rocky,” the band wrote in tribute to the Osbourne family pet.

Ozzy’s wife, Sharon Osbourne , also posted a sweet tribute to her husband’s “partner in crime” on X , formerly Twitter. “Rest Easy Rocky 💔🐶🌈,” she wrote in her post, which included a montage of video clips and photos. The montage featured snapshots of Ozzy and Sharon each holding Rocky and various clips of their fluffy four-footed friend.

The Osbournes’ posts were flooded with heartfelt messages from fans, many of whom shared inspiring quotes or song recommendations intended to ease their grief. Others expressed their regret at the news of Rocky’s passing with sorrowful messages.

“Ozzy, Sorry for your loss, it's not easy. 15 yrs is a long dog life. He loved you. Pets, dogs are a Man's best friend,” one X user wrote.

“Oh man, many condolences. He was a good-looking pomeranian, and i bet a great boy!” another X user commented.

“Rocky had an awesome life and he's doing his thing waiting for his master to reunite! Hang in there losing a best friend is never easy,” one person tweeted.

“Sorry to hear this, brother,” another X user tweeted, adding, “It's unfair how short dogs live.”
