Fans of the fast food brand Taco Bell were super excited when the chain announced a giveaway of limited-edition Stanley tumblers themed for the 20th anniversary of the Mountain Dew Baja Blast soda .

The giveaway, set for Aug. 13, had Taco Bell reportedly giving away 100 of the tumblers to lucky fans, with the first 20 fans alsosupposed to receive a year's worth of free Mountain Dew Baja Blast in the form of a $200 gift card.

But when fans and their friends tried to get their hands on the special tumblers when the time came around, many faced difficulties that had them thinking the whole thing was a "scam." Many people who tried to click the link given were directed to a 404 error page, and soon enough, fans spotted issues with the URL of the link sent out.

Confused and frustrated fans voiced their concerns on social media and questioned Taco Bell on what happened, with some accusations that it was an intentional move.

One fan, whose username on TikTok is berkundy, shared a video saying, "Taco Bell, I got beef with y'all over this Stanley tumbler. 'Cause why did y'all share the wrong d--- link?" before showing that the URL spelled "tumblers" as "tumblerls."

Other fans took to Taco Bell's official Instagram account to share their opinions on the situation, with comments on a recent post including, "Yo. You guys gonna address the Stanley snafu ? Or continue to ignore us?" and "You guys seriously aren't going to address the drop? I at least expected that from you."

A third wrote, "The silence on that drop is making me question this relationship…it’s been years. How could you do this to us😶."

On Reddit , people dug deeper and figured out that there reportedly was a correct link out there where people could claim the tumblers, but the URL needed to be manually edited to get to the right webpage. One fan wrote , "scammed out of Stanley, but $5 coupon," and shared an unexpected coupon they got the next day, seeming to connect it to the giveaway.

As a result of all of this confusion regarding the Stanley drop, fans on social media have shared theories that "employees put out an incorrect URL in your app so NOBODY outside your company could win one of these," or that "there was never any stock to begin with," as another fan claimed , although none of this has been proven.

As of writing, Taco Bell has not shared a public response to the situation or fans' issues.
