'Dance Moms’ Alum Rings Chemo Bell in Heartwarming Video

Former Dance Moms star Kelly Hyland shared a positive moment from what has been a difficult several months battling breast cancer.

On August 21, Kelly's daughter Paige posted a video of her 53-year-old mom ringing what's known as a "chemo bell" on TikTok. Over the footage, Paige wrote, "My mom finished her chemo today! Half way there."

"strongest person I know," the 23-year-old added in the caption.

Fans were quick to show their support in the comments.

"STAY STRONG KELLY!!" wrote one TikTok user.

"Watching a parent ring the chemo bell is just the best feeling," a second person commented.

"So happy for you Kelly u got this," a third person added.

Kelly also posted footage of herself ringing the bell to Instagram , writing, “I got to ring the bell today. This was the end of my first treatment… next steps surgery, 20 radiation and 11 more treatments. I GOT THIS.”

In addition, Kelly shared a Boomerang video of Paige and her son Josh , 25, kissing her on the cheek, as well as another clip of her blowing out a candle on a slice of cheesecake. “Still celebrating,” she wrote.

In May 2024, Kelly opened up about being diagnosed with invasive carcinoma grade 3 less than a year after receiving a clean bill of health during a mammogram. The mother-of-three found a lump in her breast in March, around the time people started complimenting her "significant weight loss" and asking for "dieting hacks" (even though she wasn't intentionally trying to lose weight).

"I went from clean results to a malignant mass in eight months," she said. "I was shocked that it had grown that quickly and scared of the battle I knew I was about to face."
