When it comes to appliances, there are so many extraordinary gadgets to choose from, and all serve their own unique purposes in the kitchen. Air fryers , for instance, are great for getting ultra-crispy results in record time with half the added fat. Blenders are perfect for breaking down fibrous fruits and veggies, making delicious nutrient-rich smoothies easily attainable from the comfort of home. The list could go on and on. There is one unassuming countertop helper, though, that deserves its own spot in the home appliance hall of fame, and that device is none other than the humble, modest slow cooker.

At face value, a slow cooker is simply a vessel for making soups and stews that require a lengthy cook time, but a second glance reveals just how versatile these unsung wonders really are. Beyond pot roast , chicken tortilla soup and your famous five-alarm chili , slow cookers are perfect for making things like rotisserie chicken , French toast casserole and even a bacon-spinach quiche . Of course, there’s no wrong time to bust out the slow cooker and give these recipes a whirl, but with cozy season fast approaching, now's the perfect time to get started. If you don’t happen to have your own slow cooker tucked away in the back of your pantry, though, Aldi’s got you covered—and it won’t cost you more than $30 to snatch up.

    Ambiano 6-Quart Programmable Slow Cooker

    Aldi

The budget-friendly retail chain continues to set itself apart from the competition with its remarkable lineup of affordable Aldi Finds , and the recent addition of the Ambiano 6-Quart Programmable Slow Cooker is wholly on-brand. This sizable slow cooker comes in either black or stainless steel colorways and features plastic carrying handles and a dishwasher-safe removable inner pot and lid, making cleanup effortless. Digital controls allow you to set your cook time as low as 30 minutes and up to 24 hours, ensuring you get the results you’re after every time. Additionally, you can choose between high, low and warm temperature settings offering endless flexibility in terms of what delectable dishes you can whip up at a moment's notice.

Functionality aside, the best thing about this offering from Aldi is that it costs a whopping $100 less than an equally similar offering from KitchenAid that retails for an eye-popping $129.99. Without comparing quality, the only notable difference between the two slow cookers is the addition of a medium temperature setting on the more expensive entry. For only $29.99, we think we’ll take our chances. Who do we contact about the home appliance hall of fame again? We’ve got plenty of notes.
