Nearly 140,000 Popsicles Recalled Nationwide—Here's What We Know

Nearly 140,000 Popsicle products are being pulled from the market after an allergy alert was issued this week.

Unilever U.S., the corporation that owns the Popsicle brand, issued the news in a statement just weeks ago, making consumers aware of an issue going on with the Popsicle Jolly Rancher single-serve products.

According to a press release on their website , Unilever said the frozen snack is being recalled because it may contain milk, an ingredient that is not listed on the label.

The brand warns, "Persons who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product."

According to the statement, there have already been two reported allergic reactions in connection with the Popsicle Jolly Rancher products.

However, the recall only pertains to the single-serve version of the product, usually purchased at ice cream trucks, concession stands and grab-and-go freezers. The recall does not apply to the 18-count Popsicle Jolly Rancher multi-pack products sold in grocery stores and retailers nationwide.​

The Popsicle brand said the recall was initiated because of findings indicating there may be milk allergens in the product despite not being disclosed on the packaging.

The affected products were distributed nationally to wholesale distributors and operators between Feb. 1, 2024, and Aug. 15, 2024. Consumers who have already purchased the product can look at the packaging to find out if their product matches the applicable UPC and Lot Codes, listed here .

No other Unilever or Popsicle products are affected by this recall. Anyone concerned about an allergic reaction should contact a healthcare provider.
