Zayn Malik Is Unrecognizable in New Singing Video—and Fans Have Mixed Thoughts About the New Look

Leave it to Zayn Malik to completely change his look and still make fans drool over him.

The heartthrob musician took to Instagram on Friday, Aug. 23, to give fans a special video of him singing during a recent jam session. However, Malik's new look dominated the fan reactions to the clip.

Malik, 31, looked unrecognizable in the video, rocking a scruffier grown-out hairstyle and a thick beard.

After fans saw the clip—and likely did a few double takes—some took to the comments section to discuss his transformation, which garnered mixed reactions from viewers.

One user said Malik's longer locks and facial hair make him look like a "greek god," while someone else begged him, "pls never cut your hairrr."

"u look and sound beautiful ily," another supporter of the new look wrote.

Another person thought the former One Direction member could just be behind schedule with his usual haircuts, writing, "Now that's a man that's exploring the world and loyal to his barber 😅."

But, naturally, other folks missed Malik's clean-cut look, including one who implored the singer, "come on zayn shave that beard off."

"Not a good look," someone else bluntly stated.

Maliks' new appearance also garnered a fair share of comparisons, as one person said the "Pillowtalk" singer looked like a "bear." Another said he resembled the jungle-raised character Tarzan.

"He’s in his Chuck Noland era," someone else quipped, referring to Tom Hanks ' character in the movie Castaway , where he is stranded on an island and unable to maintain his usual hair and beard maintenance.

"Zayn Chewbacca," another comment read.

But even beyond his looks, many fans were still mesmerized by Malik's voice. One person even said he sounded like an "angel," in the comments.

"Your voice is a gift," someone else added.
