It's definitely good to have a hobby , especially one that you can consistently manage and that brings you joy . Some people are into knitting or painting or running , while others have pastimes that are a little more (or a lot more niche). One new hobby that we're seeing all over our FYP— fridgescaping —is definitely a nice pastime and it seems to have the Internet divided.

    What Is Fridgescaping?

Fridgescaping is a new trend that people all over TikTok are doing. It's essentially decorating the inside of your fridge with flowers , pictures, lights and knick-knacks to make your groceries look like a work of art.

While this seems like a harmless hobby, many people wonder why anyone would spend so much time doing something like this.

Content creator and comedian @shabazsays recently shared a funny video about this new trend, saying that it's something that only "rich" people do, and the comments were all over the place.

"I feel like no amount of money could make me understand or want to do this," someone said.

"The people fridgescaping can't afford to restock their fridge. That's why they're filling it with trinkets," added another.

What Are Some Examples of Fridgescaping?

All joking aside, some of the fridgescapes that have been shared on TikTok are absolutely beautiful and creative. Some are even themed for holidays or have pop-culture references.

Lynzi Judish is a content creator whose fridgescapes have captivated audiences on Instagram. She recently shared a fridge design on her account ( @lynziliving ) that has more than 19,000 likes and dozens of comments, most from people saying that the fridgescaping ideas have helped them.

Lynzi said that a "hobbit refrigerator" was one of the most requested fridgescape themes she's received, so she decided to create one.

"I’ve honesty been very nervous because I really wanted to do it justice for everyone. I was heavily influenced by Bilbo Baggins’ kitchen in The Hobbit right down to the doilies!" she said in the caption to her Instagram.

The result was a fridge filled with fresh produce, flowers and herbs. Hobbits would love this!

"Since I started copying you and doing this I find that I end up eating my produce and fruit more because it looks so much more appealing and fresh I can’t explain it," someone commented on the video. "I also forget about my fresh ingredients less when they aren’t all in the drawers."

If you're ready to revamp your refrigerator and add a little fun to your kitchen, you can easily copy some of the fridgescapes that are on TikTok. Almost all of the influencers admit that they don't buy anything extra for it, they just use what's floating around the house to spruce up a space that we see a lot, but don't decorate enough (or at all).

And if you're still wondering who has the time for this, you're not alone, but that could be said of most hobbies, sfridgescaping brings people joy and reminds them to eat the lettuce in the crisper, who are we to judge?
