Sonic Confirms ‘Bold,’ ‘Mouth-Watering’ and ‘Loaded’ New Menu Item Is Coming Very Soon

Sonic Drive-In just announced several new comfort food-inspired favorites are heading to menus, and fans don't have to wait long to try them.

On Monday, Aug. 26, the restaurant chain revealed its new Groovy Fries are getting yet another upgrade–or three, depending on how you look at it–and that it's adding two new wraps to make the snacking experience at Sonic even better.

Beginning next month, the fan-favorite fast food spot will start dishing out warm and gooey queso, three varieties of Loaded Queso Fries , as well as the new Bacon Ranch Queso Wrap and Southwest Crunch Queso Wrap .

Even better, the queso can be added as a side to any order for just $1, making the options for new and improved menu items as limitless as your imagination.

According to a statement shared with Parade , Sonic's Loaded Queso Fries feature its crispy crinkle-cut Groovy Fries dressed with a "mouth-watering" white queso sauce. Customers also have the choice of Bacon Ranch Loaded Queso Fries finished with crispy bacon, melty shredded cheese, a drizzle of creamy ranch, and, of course, queso.

Also available are the "bold" new Southwest Loaded Queso Fries , which top the creamy white queso with sliced jalapeños, ripe tomatoes, creamy Southwest sauce, diced onions and melty shredded cheese.

As for the wraps, they're both made with all-white meat, crispy tenders that have been wrapped in a flour tortilla. The Southwest Crunch adds a creamy Southwest sauce, crunchy tortilla strips, cheddar cheese and white queso, while the Bacon Ranch keeps it simple with bacon, ranch, queso and cheddar cheese.

“SONIC’s hot and crispy Groovy Fries are a perfect snack on their own, but imagine elevating them with creamy queso and other flavor-packed toppings – now that’s a snack that hits the spot,” said Mackenzie Gibson , VP of Culinary & Menu Innovation at SONIC in a press release. “Whether you go for Bacon Ranch or Southwest, these loaded fries will get you through those midday or late-night cravings and transform them into an experience that’s both comforting and delicious.”

Starting this week, those looking to get their hands on the cheesy new items can head to the Sonic app or order online at participating locations. Customers who prefer the old-fashioned way of ordering in-store will have to wait until the items are officially released on Monday, Sept. 2.
